1/10/2024 0 Comments Thnikk osu keypad issue![]() ![]() My current setup is a Nono Keypad with Thnikk’s keycaps, and as stated before I’m using cherry MX reds. So yeah, in summary I much prefer Thnikk’s keycaps over the Nono’s keycaps. For materials, I couldn’t find any information about the Nono keycaps, but Thnikk mentions they 3D-printed them, which leads me to believe they are made of either ABS or PLA, though my money is on ABS In terms of weight, the thnikk keycap is almost undetectably heavier, but makes up for it because you aren’t pressing it as far or as hard in most cases. With the Thnikk keycaps however, I’ve found higher BPM streaming to be much easier, and slipping is rare if not entirely non-existent. Often, a hit will not register, and because it’s basically spamming, I’ll often mis-hit and my finger will slip off the key. As you can imagine, doing this is much harder when you need to press the key further down. While playing a stream map that has too high a BPM for me to properly stream, I often will resort to quick key presses that don’t fully bottom out. You can also definitely see how much smaller the surface area of the Nono is. To illustrate this I put them side by side on my Nono keypad, which you can see here. Secondly, it creates larger distance to complete a full key press. ![]() This can also be attributed to the smaller hit area on the keycap as it can cause you to hit the edge and bend it in that direction. In fact, I’ve broken 2 nono keycaps in the time I’ve been using them, while I’ve broken none of my Thnikk keycaps, despite having them for similar if not equal amounts of time with similar amounts of use. Why is this important? For 2 reasons.įirstly, it makes the connector more likely to break, especially when playing a high-use game such as osu!. As you can see, the nono connector is much longer. This height difference carries when looking at the length of the switch connector on each keycap. I find that the curved surface makes it easier to incorrectly hit your key, while the thnikk keycaps are flat, but also shorter than the Nono keys, which I’ll get to shortly. ![]() The nono keys are shaped like your traditional mechanical keycap wider on the bottom and tapers off at the top, with a curved surface where you actually press the key, which you can see here (Nono key on the left, thnikk on the right). In regards to the actual keypads themselves, i think the Nono is better because of the macros, but that’s besides the point. Hey all, today I just wanted to give a quick opinion regarding the keycaps that come with the Thnikk keypad in comparison the the keycaps that come with the Nono keypad.
